On a site like citysearch, or yahoo!local, are you more likely to come home to write a review after a horrible restaurant experience, or a fantastic one? Why?Are you more likely to write a bad review of a bad restaurant experience, or a good review of a good one?
actually the hospitality field has a saying. . . .
If you please a guest they may tell 2 people about thier experience but if you disappoint a guest they will tell 10.
People love to gush about bad experiences.
I like to reward excellent customer service, eat fabulous food, and share positive experiences... so I would probably rather write a good review!
Then again, if I had a terrible experience, I would want to warn other potential customers... It would have to be pretty bad for me to put it in print though. Otherwise, I would just use word-of-mouth.Are you more likely to write a bad review of a bad restaurant experience, or a good review of a good one?
I would write both. But i think most people would write a negative review, if only to alert people that there was a bad experience there so that they might consider someplace else.
Both.
1) a bad review because I want everyone to know not to waste their time and money at a place with terrible service. Normally I would first let the place know about their service and see if it improves before I write a review about them.
2) If its a place that I really like then I want everyone to go so they won't close! Are you more likely to write a bad review of a bad restaurant experience, or a good review of a good one?
A fantastic one, due to the common occurrence of horrible or not so great ones. It's so frequent I figure why bother complaining all it will do is succeed in making me more aggravated, and what would the restaurant do? Give me a free meal that I don't want since I never want to go back? People that do a wonderful job should get their props, then they will continue to work hard and others will enjoy their experience there too.
Probably a bad one because they seem more memorable and you always want to complain to someone when something is bad. If I go to a restaurant and get really good service, I try and always make sure I let the manager know just as I would if I got bad service. I guess I should probably think about doing that online somewhere as well. People are always much quicker to critisize than to give praise. Maybe that lies within ourselves and not wanting to recognize our own faults. Its easier to say someone else did something bad or wrong than to say you did!!!!
horrible. because i dont really think of a good experience after i've left the building, but a bad one stays with me, and it simmers and it just makes me sick until i cant stop complaining about it.
like last week with papa johns. we did the on-line delivery (and i'll mention now this is not the first time we've had problems with them), the pizza showed up 20 minutes late, and then it was wrong. so we called them, they didnt beleive that we got the wrong pizza, they just kept reading the order back and we just kept telling them yes thats what we ordered but thats not what we got. then we were told it would be another hour before it got there, then they were 30 minutes later than that, then the delivery person told us we were being charged again for the delivery fee, then had the nerve to ask for a tip (she was the same person that showed up with the delivery the first time). then she refused the take the wrong pizza back, even tho we told the manager that we were sending it back to prove it was wrong.
oh i wrote them a letter after that, i was soooo mad.
Both. If you are going to respond to what you experienced; why not do both. Help inform others of your problems or good experiences. If enough people respond; restaurants will lose customers and definitely make changes to survive.
Both. I go to http://www.tripadvisor.com and post up my reviews on restaurants and sites.
Bad, good, excellent, horrid, doesn't matter to me.
Actually for me it's about equal, with maybe a little more towards the positive end. If I really like a place, had great food, great service etc. I really want to see the place succeed, so if I can encourage people to go there, I will. Of course if the experience was bad, I might just want to forget about it, but if I think they are bad enough that people might be getting ripped off, I will probably post a bad review.
