I am having a hard time trying to find restaurants in NYC. There are so many of them it is difficult to choose and the reviews on all of them are all over the place.
I saw places like Jekyl and Hyde, Falai, and Mesa that seemed great but I have never been to many of the restaurants there.
I guess I need ideas for:
-Fun restaurants
-Nice restaurants
-Hidden restaurants
I'll be there 7 days and figured we could do one of each of those types of restaurants.
My honeymoon is in NYC over Christmas, need restaurant ideas.?
A really romantic, hidden restaurant is JoJo's. It's expensive, I warn you, but so worth it. They make divine French food; great dinner setting. Marseille is another French restaurant, a little pricy but not flat out expensive. I would recommend their brunch actually. It's a much more casual atmosphere and their brunch is heaven. Mediterraneo makes great Italian food. I think it's a fun place with wonderful, warm decor-- probably more for lunch than dinner. Tribeca Grill is a great evening dining place, a little pricey. Definitely your Manhattan restaurant; it's even co-owned by Robert DeNiro!
If you like ethnic food, Viang Ping makes delicious Thai food which is also really cheap. Try the lunch special; you won't believe how good it is for how much you pay. Tamarind makes delicious Indian food. Hangawi is definitely a hidden gem. It's Korean vegan food, which is so rare. The restaurant has a zen theme so it's really relaxing and you get to take off your shoes! If you want meat, Kum Gang San makes great Korean food too. For all these, you can go for either lunch or dinner really. Sofrito is a fun Puerto Rican restaurant but loud, I warn you.
If you end up in Brooklyn, definitely check out Nouvelle, a French-Asian fusion restaurant. It's reasonably price and gives you a Brooklyn setting with a Manhattan feel.
Remember to check ahead; a lot of Manhattan restaurants require reservations. More restaurants can be found at MenuPages.com where you can browse by type of food, location, price, etc. If you want to make reservations online, OpenTable.com is a very handy website.
Have a wonderful honeymoon!
