What's your opinion of the Bourbon House restaurant in New Orleans?

I'm going to New Orleans next week, and have been looking at menus. I'd like to go to Bourbon House for lunch, because I'd like to try the alligator burger. I've read very mixed reviews about the place. A lot of them say the service is horrible.

I have not eaten at the Bourbon House Restaurant so can't offer an opinion about the restaurant itself.

It's a Brennan family restaurant so it's unlikely to be terrible. It does appear the bad reviews were on occasions when the restaurant was completely full ("...had to wait an hour for a table"). Don't eat at completely-full restaurants - anywhere - if you can avoid it.

I do recommend trying alligator as an appetizer somewhere before you invest the time selecting it as a main course. Some like it and many don't.
