I live around a medium sized city near Philadelphia. It's not that large or near any other big cities to warrant being featured on Zagat or any other major restaurant review website and I always find it irritating when I can't get any information about the restaurants in the area.
Since I have experience with web design and databasing, I am thinking about opening up a website which would provide information about all the restaurants in my county. I have a couple hurdles although that I hope you can give me some insight on.
How do you think I should get the restaurants to sign up on the idea? Should I collect the information myself or would a letter to the owner of the restaurant do me any good? In other words, should the restaurant play a significant role in providing information and maintaining the website? If you're a restaurant owner, would you help me out?
Also, what should I consider restaurants? Should I include diners, pizza shops, chinese food? Thanks! Can anybody help me start up a restaurant review website?
a; i have plenty of ideas for web sites
that will make you $;
b; write a biz plan; visit the US
small biz's admin's web site and
copy one of theirs.
c; visit the top review web sites and
modify it to make it more MICRO--
smaller to cover smaller communities.
d; start your site and add all the restuaurants yourself and
ask -on the street, others to send you their opinions of each restaurant.
and you visit each one and
eat there and write an unbiased ["neutral"] opinion.
the question becomes, how to
keep the site pure and analytical?
hard if you need restaurant
advertising! Can anybody help me start up a restaurant review website?
I think your skills and ideas are great. I suggest that you go for it and take it to the next level. I am a member of a program and have built a website through a web host found at http://www.customized-by-you.com
There are many other people who have built similar websites to your idea for their home town, and are generating an income from their site. This web host could easily help you to get started with your idea. You could also get some inspiration from other web designers in their member forum and generate some ideas to add to the ideas you already have. Send me a message if you have further questions. I hope this helps. I look forward to seeing you on the world wide web.
BEST WISHES!Can anybody help me start up a restaurant review website?
Include everybody, if you do this ... pizza counts as much as filet mignon.
I don't know how you would charge - everyone does it for free - they get it from online ads from the high traffic.
Other than that - I don't know - Zagat has a handle on the market - don't you think?
It's just like Google jumping in to take market share from Wikipedia - too late!! Wikipedia has the brand - I doubt Google's Nol will ever trump it. Why don't they just BUY Wikipedia????
So my point is that why jump into something that already IS - there are plenty of places there there ISN'T.
My 2 cents.
