who cares?
in my view, america is a country full of lust..
we can have sex anywhere and everywhere..
american girls are the horniest in this world..
but americans are very daring, they've guts to live an independent life..
american government is very caring about people.. sometimes dumb-***..
you're right.. to find people's opinion, it's better to give them some questions with multiple choice so that they just check the right option.. if you are gonna give theory, everyone including me is gonna neglect it..
and perfect place is when people are together and free enough..
like you said, in a restaurant, is a perfect place to my knowledge..
next is, give to college students in their canteen..What is America through a foreigners eyes?
You should go to a nail salon (the majority of which are run by Asians), they would probably give you an honest opinion.
Go to restaurants in your city that are run by non-Americans; set up an interview.
Google it.
I depends up on which foreigner you are talking about. From poor countries, it will be wonders, but from developed countries of the west, there is no amazement. From political point of view, it is a free country and rich and powerfulWhat is America through a foreigners eyes?
Well I'm Canadian and to me, America is a place to go shopping, and get the cereals and junk food that we can't get here. :D
I think a lot of them wish they were Americans. Lots of them come here legally and otherwise everyday.
fat greedy white people
Hmmmmmm... I'm British with American friends so maybe I can offer this. Please take this in the spirit it is offered and if any of it is offensive, I don't mean to be. I'm just saying it like it is.
I find that the USA is very insular (US TV news programmes have hardly anything on them about what is going on outside the US even when they are advertised as "world news"), as a nation isn't really interested in what other people think, and is far too keen to throw its weight about.
This is why it has so much trouble in the Middle East and why 9/11 happened. The Arab mind is very different from ours and if you're going to interfere in another country, PLEASE know what you are doing. The US somehow never seems to and thinks its way is best and everyone else should have it. Maybe as the most powerful country in the world it has some responsibility for world policing but it really needs to understand that other ways of life are equally valid.
Take the war in Iraq. We Brits were very reluctant to join in but we did because of the "special relationship". It caused huge ructions in our Parliament that Tony Blair agreed to it without asking them (which he could because of the government's power to exercise the Royal Prerogative to declare war). We were the colonial power there 50+ years ago so perhaps we know Iraq better. Of course it was all about oil supplies but there are other ways of going about it.
My other main "beef" is with American politics. It amazes me. I was visiting a friend in NJ during the week of the presidential election in 2008 and it was a real eye-opener to me. Because the USA is the most religious country in the "western civilised world", politics tends to be coloured by religion and to me, that is totally weird. No politician here ever mentions religion as this is a largely non-religious country and we'd think they were slightly mad if they did. For the record, our Prime Minister is a nominal Anglican (Episcopalian) and our Deputy Prime Minister is atheist but that didn't feature at all in the election campaign in April/May. We aren't interested in that, only in what they actually propose to DO. The likes of Sarah Palin wouldn't last five minutes here.
Of course all Americans aren't the same but that's the overall impression. I like to visit (though US immigration officials are the nastiest I've ever met) but somehow I'd rather live here.
