A) You need a Web host to get pages on the Web.

To see some recommended Web host and to learn what you should expect from one, click here:

B) Your Web host will let you choose your domain name. Examles of a domain name: google.com, amazon.com, MissingMethods.com, etc.

C) Consider using Dreamweaver CS3 to help you create and design your site: It speeds up the development process! You can create your pages in a Word Document and import them into Dreamweaver if you wish

.

Note:

You can start making your Web pages without a Web host, or Dreamweaver for that matter--Dreamweaver just makes it ALOT easier. This means creating Web pages cost nothing!

You only need a Web host when you are ready for the world to view your Web pages. But you have to create them first!

To create Web pages, you need to know the language of the Web: XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc. And that cost nothing. You can create a Web page in as little as two seconds at no cost in Notepad. And the best part is, knowing XHTML gives you full creative freedom over designing your web page: You aren't stuck with the limitations of a template or having to put up with annoyings ads that you didn't ask for and don't even get to make money on. Besides, you still need to know XHTML for Dreamweaver CS3 so you won't get lost.

Here is a short tutorial with visual aids and "copy and paste" xhtml code to walk you through making your first Web page in Dreamweaver CS3 or Notepad.

It's a great place to start: http://missingmethods.com/Programing/H/H鈥?/a>

Wouldn't the reviews all have to be glowing and positive to get the restaurants to pay? I'm not in the food business, but I wouldn't give someone money if they might trash me.

If you want the restaurants to fund the site, then think of making it more of a directory with descriptions than a review site, and organize them by food type and proximity to hotels and events. Tourism and municipal boards might also buy an ad or two.

A really good site is going to be a ton of work, but if you do it well it will be a great resource. How can i start up a local restaurant review website for profit?
you have to start by canvassing restaurants and advertisers to see if they'll pay for your service. then you have to self advertise and self promote. in otherwords, go to every site you can and spread the word about your site (post on yahoo, craigslist... etc)

do you want your viewers to pay for your services?.. like a membership? that's what Zagats does. or do you want advertisers and restaurants to pay for your services? that's what you have to decide first.

yahoo answers is free to it's audience and gets money from advertisers... the ads that you see on the sides of these pages.
Start with bluehosting and place google ads and bidvertisor ads on the site to make money. http://homebizseo.com/Make_money_online/鈥?/a>

you have to have adverts on it for it to make money
No worries about negative comments on the site because as the site owner you will be the moderator. A site with reviews is great.

In order to #1 get traffic (visitors) you need to start with focusing on building quality content. #2 is not the money part. #2 is using the content to drive traffic naturally from the search engines. #3 is preselling the traffic through the quality of your content and #4 is monetization=$$$$

The web host that I use for business teaches this CTPM process and analyzes your work for best results. There are many ways to build business around your idea of an informational website. Do not charge the visitors. That would do you harm. People want positive information for free and businesses can reward you for your targeted traffic. The web host that I use has a great web page about this topic. http://findersfee.sitesell.com/Unstoppab鈥?/a> and half way down the page they have a great example of a similar site to your idea. it is anguila-beaches.com

To understand the process of getting visitors to your site and ways to earn money they have a great video tour on their main page at http://www.tobuildyour.com

Regardless of where or how you choose to build your site. I think you can find some valuable ideas and tips at these links.

BEST WISHES!
