Is is proper to ask for a to go box at an expensive, fancy restaurant?

I'm going to Daniel's Restaurant in Hamburg (New York). It appears to be the most expensive restaurant I've ever been to, and it has amazing reviews. It is probably very fancy, and I'm just wondering if it is proper to get a to go box in a restaurant as fancy as this.

PS, I know it's my money and I can do whatever I want, but I'm trying high class for a week :-DIs is proper to ask for a to go box at an expensive, fancy restaurant?
When you are served, determine how much of your meal that you will be able to eat. Cut the portion in half - neatly - if you can. When the waiter comes back, simply tell him/her that you would like to take the rest of the chicken/steak/pasta/veal/whatever home with you.

It is usually appropriate to take only the entree, not the vegetables or other items.

But don't make a mess of your plate and then ask for a "to-go" box. That IS tacky. You're smart by planning ahead!

And by the way, people do it all of the time.

Have a GREAT time!
If there are leftovers I will take them home with me, no matter what the cost of the meal. I think it's terrible to let good food go to waste. Is is proper to ask for a to go box at an expensive, fancy restaurant?
No,, they are probably asked all the time, go ahead and ask.
